Family is visiting! | Maryland Wedding Photographers

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

First of all, as Becky said in our last post, we are still doing some upgrades behind the scenes, so bear with us.  We still aren’t quite done, and that’s why we’ve been silent on the blog for the last few days.  Hopefully, we’ll resume our regular posting schedule next week!

My cousins and Aunt came to visit me the past three days, and we had lots of fun going all over DC and, of course, taking some pictures!  :)   I’m sure you’ll see a few more later, but these are a few for now.

Happy Thursday!

Longwood Gardens Weekend Visit | Maryland Photographer

Monday, October 10th, 2011

This past weekend, Akie and I went up to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.  Our anniversary was actually the 25th of September, but we postponed our trip because it was raining that weekend.  We were very happy we postponed, because we had gorgeous weather on Saturday to visit Longwood Gardens!

Pierre du Pont, the man who built Longwood, loved water and fountains. There are fountains all over the gardens, and they’re all just gorgeous.

The variety of flowers and plants is incredible!

The leaves were starting to turn, which added to the loveliness of the place.

The Conservatory was one of my favorite spots in the Gardens. They had so many different plants and flowers growing here.

They are getting ready for the Chrysanthemum festival the end of October, so we got to see some of the gorgeous flowers now.

Akie liked playing in the fountains at the kids area. :)

We got someone to take a photo of us.

They have a water fountain show several times throughout the day. We were there for 2 of them, so we got a view from the front…

One last gorgeous view in the gardens!

The next day we went to the Brandywine River Museum, then took a walk along the creek. It was so nice having a weekend away to celebrate 1 year!

Fall Decorating | Maryland Wedding Photographers

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

I love fall.  Everything about it is just so great. [Well, except for the fact that winter is right around the corner. brrr..]  But, even that doesn’t hinder me from completely enjoying this lovely season.

The other day I dug out all my fall decorations from my wedding, and that, along with a few other things I picked up from Hobby Lobby and Michael’s [sales, anyone? :)] was what I used to decorate my house.  My good friend, Bekah, [yes, the same one from the shoot yesterday] came over and helped me decorate.

We started out with a table full of supplies….

And slowly the table got emptier and my house got prettier! I found these cute little pumpkins at Michael’s and I just couldn’t resist getting them.

Bekah is a master with a glue gun and other stuff. Isn’t this wreath gorgeous?

She also put this one together as a candle holder for my table centerpiece.

Now my house is nice and fall-like, and I can enjoy the beauty even before the leaves are fully changed on trees outdoors.   I was looking up lots of fall ideas online to get inspired before we did this, and if you have a cool project you did for your fall decorations I’d love to see or hear about it!

Happy beginning of fall!!

Back in the Office | Maryland Wedding Photographers

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

This week I’m back in Mississippi, working at my old job. Since Erica got married last week, and she works at my Dad’s air conditioning company, I’m filling in for her while she’s on her honeymoon. Yes, I’m just cool like that. ;) I’m thinking of starting a new business: I’ll shoot your wedding then work your job the next week while you’re gone. Any takers? :)

So, for this last week, here’s a photo of my life: Coffee, paperwork and to-do lists. I miss being here. :(

Susie’s World | Maryland Wedding Photographers

Monday, August 8th, 2011

When I was younger, I wanted to collect something. [I guess everyone else did, so I had to join the crowd]. Even at a young age, my practical side was showing itself, and I knew I wanted to collect something that I would use a lot. Of course, at that time I didn’t realize I would become such a coffee drinker, but choosing to collect mugs has worked out quite well for me. :) At one point, I had quite a collection, but then went through them and gave away every mug that didn’t have extra special meaning. I have mugs from my travels, I have some from my friends, and I have mugs that remind me of a special time in my life.

When I get my coffee in the morning, and reach for one of the mugs, it reminds me of the good times I had with friends, of the adventures we took together, of the sites I’ve actually seen and photographed, and how big this world really is. It reminds me to think of my friends and to keep in touch with them, because friendship is such a beautiful thing. It also makes me wonder, what will my collection mean to me in another few years, where will my next mug come from, and who will be the friend, or place I think of each time I drink my coffee? I love starting each day thinking of something special, and talking a little walk down memory lane.

What about you, is there something you collect? I’d love to hear about it!
